It’s been a minute since I blogged! I took a much-needed hiatus to focus on my mental and physical health. I had a lifestyle change at the end of 2023 and it was a lot at once. Even though I was seeing the results I wanted, it took a toll on me mentally. I gave myself time to feel all the feels and I am stronger for it.
It’s hard to believe that a year has flown by since I embarked on my journey toward a healthier lifestyle. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but the path has been even more challenging and rewarding than I could have imagined. I’m so proud to share the milestones and lessons from the past year, including the fact that I’ve lost 30 pounds (say what?!) through a combination of healthier eating and consistent gym workouts!
Embracing Change: The Beginning
A year ago, I decided to make a change. My goal was simple but ambitious: to improve my overall health. I started by focusing on my diet, incorporating more nutritious foods and learning to make better choices. The transition wasn’t instant; it required me to educate myself about balanced eating and to navigate some conflicting advice from different sources. I needed professional help with my nutrition so I started working with a Registered Dietitian. One of my last blogs was about this, so you can check it out here to see how I had a mind shift.
The Gym: A New Routine
Going to the gym became a crucial part of my transformation. Establishing a regular workout routine was one of the toughest parts of this new lifestyle. There were days when motivation was low, and I struggled with consistency. However, pushing through those tough days taught me a lot about perseverance and self-discipline. I had to learn to listen to my body and adjust my workouts to prevent burnout and more importantly, to keep it fun so I can stay motivated.
Overcoming Obstacles
The road wasn’t always smooth. There were times when I faced mental and emotional breakdowns. Struggling with self-doubt and frustration was part of the process. I had to learn to cope with setbacks and not let them derail my progress. It was essential to acknowledge these challenges and lean in to my support system when needed.
The Rewards of Hard Work
Despite the obstacles, the rewards have been more than I expected. Losing 30 pounds is a huge accomplishment, but the real win was in the habits I’ve developed and the strength I’ve gained—both physically and mentally. I’ve learned that real growth happens when we push through discomfort and remain committed to our goals.
Looking Forward
As I reflect on this year, I’m proud of the progress I’ve made, but I know the journey doesn’t end here. I’m committed to continuing this path of self-improvement and maintaining the healthy habits I’ve built. The past year has shown me that with determination and resilience, anything is possible!
